Construction Accelerates on Long-Delayed Parliament Lodges New Block

Islamabad: The construction of a new block at the Parliament Lodges, delayed for over a decade, has resumed following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The minister has ordered the completion of the project within four months, aiming to provide residential facilities for parliamentarians.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, accompanied by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, visited the construction site to inspect the progress. Naqvi confirmed that funds for the project, stalled for 13 years, have been approved and emphasized the need to prioritize its completion.

Originally contracted in 2012, the project was expected to be finished by 2013, with an extension to 2014. However, work was halted by the contractor, leading to legal issues and significant delays. During the visit, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, provided a briefing on the development.

The new block will consist of 104 residential units. The visit was attended by Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, and other senior officials.
