SRINAGAR, The Indian National Congress’ Jammu and Kashmir chapter has committed to continue its opposition to the undermining of democratic institutions and the betrayal of promises regarding development and prosperity in the region, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of using these issues for political gain.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Vikar Rasool Wani, the President of the Indian National Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, expressed these views during a meeting with party workers from the Kulgam district. Wani criticized the BJP’s claims of development and prosperity in the region as being disconnected from reality. He asserted that, under BJP’s governance, the region has regressed in various aspects.
Wani highlighted the denial of democratic rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, equating it to rendering them unrepresented and defenseless in a constitutional context.
