Congress to Launch Agitation Against Modi Government in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: The Indian National Congress in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) announced plans to initiate an agitation starting tomorrow against what it describes as the anti-people policies of the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Bharatsinh Solanki, in charge of IIOJK affairs for the party, and Vikar Rasool Wani, President of the local Congress chapter, expressed concerns over the BJP’s policies, particularly the enhanced powers granted to the Lieutenant Governor, which they argue undermine the elected government’s authority. They also voiced strong opposition to the stripping of statehood and special status from the region.

The Congress leaders are demanding the restoration of full statehood prior to the scheduled Assembly elections, echoing sentiments of disenfranchisement among local political leaders and citizens. Additionally, they criticized the central government’s approach to governance in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in light of recent local electoral results where the BJP secured only two seats out of eleven, suggesting a shifting political landscape in the region.
