Congress Critiques Modi’s ‘Make in India’ as ‘Fake in India’

New Delhi: In a scathing review of the Modi government’s flagship ‘Make in India’ initiative, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has labeled the program a failure, claiming it has turned into a ‘Fake in India’ scheme filled with unmet promises. This accusation comes as the initiative reaches its tenth anniversary, highlighting significant discrepancies between its ambitious goals and the actual outcomes.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ramesh, in his recent statement, criticized the government’s economic policies, which he claims have not achieved the objectives set out when ‘Make in India’ was launched in 2014. He argued that the program has not only failed to meet its promises but has also fostered economic instability and unpredictability, severely impacting private investment and favoring only a handful of large business conglomerates.

Highlighting specific government actions like demonetisation, Ramesh suggested these policies have created an environment of fear and uncertainty, further stunting economic growth and stifling competition. His critique extends to the broader economic strategy of the current administration, questioning the overall benefit to the country’s economic landscape.
