Srinagar: In a recent statement, Congress MP Nasir Hussain accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of fostering political instability in the upcoming assembly elections in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by promoting independent candidates. Hussain’s allegations highlight concerns over the BJP’s tactics to influence the election outcomes to prevent a clear mandate.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hussain expressed concerns that the BJP is not positioned to win the elections and is therefore engaging in tactics to ensure a fractured electoral outcome. He urged the residents of IIOJK to come together to counteract what he described as dangerous and divisive strategies by the BJP. Hussain argued that the BJP’s lack of confidence in securing a majority stems from the anticipated backlash from the local population, who he claimed are poised to rebuke the party for its governance failures over the past decade.
In his critique of the BJP’s tenure in IIOJK, Hussain pointed to inadequate progress in key areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. He also highlighted the severe issue of drug addiction among youth in the region, referencing a parliamentary report that estimated around 1.35 million young people are affected by this crisis.
Furthermore, Hussain called attention to several corruption scandals that have surfaced recently, including the Jal Jeevan Mission Scam, Recruitment Scam, and scams related to mining, sand, and liquor. These controversies underscore the challenges facing the region’s governance and the pressing need for accountability and reform.
