Concerns Over Safety of Muslims in India Under BJP Government

New Delhi: A recent report has highlighted growing concerns among the Muslim community in India regarding their safety and well-being under the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), known for its Hindu nationalist stance.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the report, which includes interviews with several Muslim families, details incidents of discrimination and harassment. This has been particularly pronounced in schools where Muslim children face taunts and pressures to participate in Hindu chants, and in housing where landlords openly refuse to rent to Muslims. The community feels marginalized, with restricted access to religious freedoms, such as needing permission to celebrate Eid and the absence of mosques in areas dominated by other religious structures.

These developments have caused alarm within the Muslim community, leading to calls for action from human rights organizations to address and counteract these growing instances of discrimination and ensure safety and equality for all religious communities in India.
