Islamabad: Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland is set to arrive in Pakistan this Sunday for an official visit, at the invitation of the Pakistani government. Her visit aims to discuss strengthening the partnership between Pakistan and the Commonwealth, especially in the areas of youth empowerment, trade, and climate change resilience.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during her visit, Secretary-General Scotland will engage with Pakistan’s leadership, cabinet members, youth leaders, and civil society representatives. This visit also marks the second anniversary of the 2022 floods that caused significant devastation in Pakistan, with Scotland expected to tour the affected areas to reaffirm her solidarity with the nation. The discussions will also cover cooperation on Pakistan’s national development plan and enhancing the Commonwealth’s role in supporting Pakistan’s climate change mitigation efforts.
