Islamabad: Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland announced the establishment of a new Asian youth initiative, with its regional secretariat set to be based in Pakistan. This initiative aims to tap into the vast potential of the nation’s youthful demographic, which constitutes 65 percent of its population.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during her interview with PTV News, Secretary-General Scotland emphasized the initiative’s role in strengthening the partnership between Pakistan and the Commonwealth. She highlighted that the regional secretariat in Pakistan would play a crucial role in empowering the young population.
Scotland also noted that the Commonwealth has designated 2023-2024 as the Year of Youth, underscoring the organization’s commitment to integrating youth agendas into broader developmental policies.
