Islamabad: In a significant development for Pakistan’s defence industry, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan conducted the soft launch of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024 set to take place in Karachi this November. The event was marked by discussions on the potential of Pakistan’s defence sector in meeting domestic needs and expanding its reach in the global market through exports.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ceremony held in Islamabad highlighted the multifaceted benefits of IDEAS, which has evolved into a pivotal gathering for defence exhibitors, delegations, analysts, and trade visitors worldwide. Minister Jam Kamal emphasized the exhibition’s role in fostering international relationships, enhancing industry networking, and exploring cost-effective solutions to contemporary defence challenges.
Further insights were provided by Major General Asad Nawaz Khan, Director General of the Defence Export Promotion Organization, who spoke about IDEAS as a manifestation of a global vision for peace, stability, and harmony. He outlined Pakistan’s ambitions to position itself as a hub for defence research, manufacturing, and joint ventures that could bolster the nation’s defence capabilities and export potential.
