Commander of Task Force 150 Engages with Sri Lanka Navy on Maritime Security

Islamabad: Commodore Asim Sohail Malik of the Pakistan Navy, who currently leads the Combined Task Force 150, conducted a virtual meeting with Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, the Director General of Operations for the Sri Lanka Navy. The meeting’s main agenda was to strengthen the objectives of the Combined Maritime Forces and discuss potential collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy to support CTF-150’s mission against illicit maritime activities.

According to Pakistan Navy, Commodore Malik provided an update on the operational activities of the 13th Pakistan Navy-led CTF-150 mission. He emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to counter threats from non-state actors. Both parties agreed on the potential involvement of Sri Lankan naval assets in CTF-150 operations, highlighting that cooperation with coastal states is crucial for disrupting narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities in the North Arabian Sea. Commodore Malik reiterated Pakistan Navy’s dedication to maintaining maritime peace and stability in the region and expressed support for the Sri Lanka Navy’s upcoming command of CTF-154.

The meeting was attended by Senior National Representatives from both Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Combined Maritime Forces, along with key officials from the Sri Lanka Navy, demonstrating the strong bilateral commitment to regional maritime security.
