Cold, Dry Weather to Persist Across Most of Pakistan: National Weather Forecast

Islamabad, Pakistan is set to experience mainly cold and dry weather conditions in most of its plains, while the northern districts brace for very cold and partly cloudy weather, The latest forecast released by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Islamabad.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, issued on 13 December 2023 at 10:30, details a synoptic situation dominated by continental air covering most parts of the country. Wednesday’s forecast anticipates mainly cold and dry weather in the majority of the plain areas. However, the northern districts are expected to face very cold temperatures along with partly cloudy skies. Fog or smog is likely to persist during the night in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh. Western Balochistan is predicted to experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather.

The trend is set to continue into Thursday, with most plain areas expecting cold and dry conditions, and western districts experiencing partly cloudy weather. Fog or smog will likely persist in the morning and night hours in the same regions as Wednesday.

Reflecting on the past 24 hours, the weather remained cold and dry across most parts of the country, with the northern areas experiencing significantly lower temperatures.

Today’s recorded lowest minimum temperatures were notably low in several areas, with Leh registering -12°C, Skardu at -7°C, and Gupis, Kalam, Kalat, Srinagar, Dir, and Quetta ranging between -5°C and -3°C.

This consistent cold spell across the country urges residents to take necessary precautions against the chilly weather, especially during night and early morning hours when fog and smog are more likely to occur.
