Cold and Dry Weather Expected Across Pakistan, with Light Rain and Snow in Northern Areas

Islamabad, Pakistan’s National Weather Forecasting Centre forecasts a continuation of cold and dry weather in most parts of the country for the coming days, with occasional light rain and snowfall in the northern high mountain areas. A shallow westerly wave is approaching the upper parts of the country, influencing the weather conditions.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the continental air prevailing over most regions is expected to maintain mainly cold and dry conditions. On Friday, weather in the upper districts will be partly cloudy, with light rain or snowfall likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, and surrounding areas. Smog and fog are also expected to persist in upper Sindh and the plains of Punjab during the night.

Saturday’s forecast is similar, with most areas experiencing cold and dry weather, while the upper districts will see partly cloudy skies. Light rain or snowfall is again expected in high mountain regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. Additionally, smog and fog are likely to persist in upper Sindh, plain areas of Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning and night hours.

The past 24 hours have seen cold and dry weather across most of the country. The lowest recorded minimum temperatures included Leh at -10°C, Skardu at -7°C, and several areas such as Astore, Gupis, Kalam, Gilgit, Quetta, and Srinagar recording temperatures between -4°C and -2°C.
