COAS Urges International Community to Address Unfolding Tragedy in Gaza

Islamabad, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has called on the global community to address the escalating human crisis in Gaza due to what he described as disproportionate and unlawful force employed by Israeli Forces against Palestinians. This statement came during a meeting with the Ambassador of Palestine, Ahmad Jawad Rabei, in Rawalpindi.

According to a news release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, General Munir conveyed his deep concern over the continuous acts of violence and the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians by Israeli Forces. He stressed the urgency for international intervention to halt Israeli Forces from committing such acts that blatantly violate established norms of human decency.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of Palestinian lives in the ongoing conflict, the Army Chief highlighted the targeted assaults on civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, universities, and aid workers. He characterized these actions as crimes against humanity.

General Munir emphasized the need for an immediate end to hostilities and the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza. He underscored the importance of protecting civilians and complying with International Humanitarian Law.

Furthermore, the Army Chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the establishment of a free, viable, and connected Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He attributed the recent surge of violence in Gaza to ongoing repression, persistent human rights breaches, and the state-backed desecration of the Al Aqsa mosque.
