COAS Honors Olympian Arshad Nadeem for Historic Gold Medal at Army Auditorium


Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, hosted a ceremony at the Army Auditorium GHQ on Thursday to honor Olympian Arshad Nadeem for his historic achievement in winning Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a singles’ event at the Olympics.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, the event celebrated not only Nadeem’s record-setting performance but also his exemplary journey from modest beginnings to Olympic glory. The ceremony was attended by notable sports figures and teams, including the 1984 Olympic and National Hockey Teams, the National Cricket Team, and legends such as Jehangir Khan and Aisam-ul-Haq, among others.



The COAS praised Nadeem’s commitment and perseverance, recognizing his success as a source of national pride and reaffirming the military’s support for youth development in sports and other fields. Nadeem, in turn, expressed his gratitude and highlighted the potential of Pakistani youth to achieve greatness through hard work and positive attitudes.



The event underscored the importance of sports as a means to engage and develop the youth, aiming to foster a healthier, more prosperous society in Pakistan.
