COAS Calls for Peaceful Resolution in Kashmir, Marks Defence Day

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir commemorated Defence Day by emphasizing the unshakeable commitment of Pakistan’s armed forces toward the nation’s peace and security, and stressed the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Gen Munir’s special message on Defence Day underscored the unified efforts of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in repelling the advances of a formidable adversary on this historic day. He linked regional peace to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, asserting that the aspirations of the Kashmiri people must align with UN resolutions despite ongoing challenges.

Gen Munir praised the exceptional unity and solidarity shown on September 6, noting its significance in boosting the morale of the armed forces and the nation alike. He commended the military’s valor and professionalism during the conflicts of September, which he described as a golden chapter in Pakistan’s military history, providing enduring inspiration to future generations.

In a poignant tribute to fallen soldiers, Gen Munir quoted from the Holy Quran’s Surah Al-Baqarah, honoring those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He reaffirmed the military’s dedication to the welfare of martyrs’ families and underscored the foundational values of faith, piety, and jihad in the military’s ongoing endeavors.

The COAS concluded by acknowledging the military’s effective role in countering terrorism, asserting that Pakistan’s armed forces have achieved successes unmatched by any other nation’s military.
