Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced today the launch of the Ramazan Nighaban Package, a significant initiative designed to provide essential food supplies to over 30 million deserving individuals across the province during the holy month of Ramazan. In a news conference, the Chief Minister reiterated her commitment to delivering on her promises and ensuring that relief is provided directly to the people’s doorsteps.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ramazan Nighaban Package will see the distribution of 6.5 million hampers, which are equipped with QR codes to streamline the process and avoid the need for beneficiaries to queue up. This innovative approach has already seen 80 thousand hampers delivered, containing essential items such as flour, sugar, ghee, and gram flour.
To further alleviate the burden on citizens during Ramazan, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of Ramazan Bazaars in every district of Punjab, coupled with stringent price control measures to ensure affordability. Maryam Nawaz highlighted the swift action of her government in preparing the Ramazan package within the first nine days of her tenure, thanking the Benazir Income Support Program and NADRA for their assistance in identifying deserving families.
The Chief Minister also addressed the issue of hoarding, affirming the government’s resolve to crack down on such practices through fines and arrests. Emphasizing accountability, she announced the establishment of a dedicated helpline, CM Maryam Nawaz (08000-2345), for public complaints, promising resolution within 72 hours.
Maryam Nawaz expressed her gratitude towards all departments of the Punjab Government, district administrations, and the Punjab Information Technology Board for their efforts in the planning and execution of the Ramazan Relief Programme. This comprehensive package underlines the government’s commitment to supporting the most vulnerable segments of society during a time of need, ensuring that the spirit of Ramazan is observed with generosity and compassion.
