CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Leads First PERA Meeting to Finalize Key Approvals

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif led the inaugural meeting of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA), where several foundational decisions were made. The meeting resulted in the approval of establishing PERA offices, finalizing appointments, and setting rules and regulations.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the meeting emphasized transparency and merit in PERA’s hiring processes. An effective monitoring system for the authority was also discussed. Four committees were established to oversee various functions: the Administration Logistics Committee, Finance Committee, Legal Committee, and Technical Committee.

The Chief Minister set a three-month target for making PERA fully operational. Approvals were given for posts at different administrative levels, including tehsil-level officers such as Sub-divisional Enforcement Officers and Investigation Officers. The transfer and deputation policy for PERA staff was also sanctioned.

Additionally, the appointment of a ‘Hearing Officer’ was approved to handle appeals at the Enforcement Station. The meeting covered other administrative aspects, including the procurement plan, authority of the Director General, and branding details for PERA vehicles and uniforms. A special committee will review the 2024 operation, procedure, and regulation of the authority based on the meeting’s decisions.
