Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has unveiled plans for a significant financial initiative aimed at supporting livestock farmers in Punjab with a Rs 11 billion interest-free loan scheme. This scheme is set to commence in a few months, marking a substantial effort to promote development and progress within the agricultural sector of the province. “Punjab’s first unique Livestock Card will be activated on 15 December,” she announced, underscoring the project’s potential impact on the region’s farmers.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the scheme will introduce the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Livestock Card, which has already begun its registration process. The initiative is expected to benefit 80,000 farmers across Punjab. This card will enable farmers to purchase necessary supplies such as ‘Wanda’, mineral mixtures, and silage from registered dealers. Moreover, cattle farmers will have access to interest-free loans of Rs 27,000 per animal, with a potential total of up to Rs 2 lakh 70 thousand.
The Chief Minister detailed that these loans will be repayable in four equal monthly installments, with the payment period commencing four months after the loan is granted. To facilitate access, farmers can register for the livestock card by visiting their nearest veterinary hospital or by sending a message to 8070 with their PLC and ID card number. Additionally, a dedicated helpline, 0800-09211, has been established to assist farmers with any inquiries regarding the scheme.
