CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Announces Major Educational Initiatives in Punjab

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif unveiled a series of educational initiatives at a recent event in Layyah, including the establishment of a medical college and the Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education in Dera Ghazi Khan and Layyah. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance educational infrastructure across the province.

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister announced a substantial allocation of Rs. 3 billion for universities in Dera Ghazi Khan and Layyah. She also committed Rs. 110 billion to provide essential facilities such as classrooms and toilets to all schools in Punjab within a year, ensuring no school is left without basic amenities.

In her address, Ms. Sharif emphasized the importance of youth empowerment, stating, “If the youth become an iron wall, no power in the world can defeat Pakistan.” She highlighted the achievements of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, noting the country’s nuclear capabilities established in 1998.

The Chief Minister also announced an increase in the Honhaar scholarship from 30,000 to 50,000 rupees and the distribution of laptops, aimed at supporting students’ educational pursuits. She reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that no child in Punjab is deprived of education due to financial constraints.

Ms. Sharif praised the efforts of female commissioners and deputy commissioners, urging students to dream big and strive for their ambitions. She expressed her gratitude towards Layyah, acknowledging the respect and love received from its residents.

Addressing broader societal issues, she urged the youth to prioritize national interests and warned against divisive influences. She paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistani soldiers and emphasized the importance of respecting national institutions and monuments.

The Chief Minister’s announcements underscore her administration’s focus on education and youth development as critical components of Punjab’s progress.
