Lahore: “The record simultaneous revamping of all health centers across Punjab is nearing completion,” said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while noting that the project of revamping and rehabilitating 1,236 health centers of Punjab is in full swing. She added, “Dilapidated health centers will be converted into makeshift clinics.” She set a deadline of 31 December for completing the project.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the project encompasses 286 health centers in Central Punjab, 363 in the North Zone, and 587 in South Punjab. She reported that the revamping of 20% of health centers in Central Punjab, 28% in the North Zone, and more than 25% in South Punjab has been completed. The transformation of 1,219 health centers into family clinics is progressing rapidly, with plastering of 772 units, flooring of 384 units, and finishing of 74 units underway.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the active efforts of the Department of Construction and Communication teams to meet project deadlines. “We will fulfill our promise of best treatment facilities for the people,” she stated. She further explained that basic health centers would be upgraded into modern clinics and that the shortage of doctors and staff would also be addressed.
Madam Chief Minister underscored her commitment by stating that the new clinics in Punjab’s villages would surpass the quality of private hospitals in cities. She highlighted that by providing excellent health facilities at the people’s doorsteps, the pressure on major hospitals would be alleviated. She instructed the relevant authorities to adhere to the highest construction standards during the revamping of the health centers.
