Lahore, May 28, 2022 (PPI-OT): Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shahbaz has given principle approval to impose ban on holding rallies in the Greater Iqbal Park and stated that the usage of this historic park for holding public rallies is inappropriate from any aspect.
CM took another praiseworthy step and refused the proposal to enforce entry fee in the Grater Iqbal Park. He said that this is part of the poor and will not enforce entry fee under any circumstance. Hamza Shehbaz also expressed his anger for not timely buying seeds of the plants in the previous tenure and ordered to hold an inquiry in this regard.
CM directed to expedite the planting of trees, plants and grass on the empty spaces adding that the PHA board be constituted at the earliest. CM directed to immediately call back the gardeners working at homes and if there is any gardener working in his house then he should also be called back adding that zero-tolerance policy should be adopted in this regard.
Hamza Shehbaz directed that empty lands should be identified in South Punjab and a plan to plant trees, plants and grass should also be formulated. He directed to functionalize Butterfly House in Jallo Botanical Park. He disclosed that PHA matters would be run transparently and asserted that he would not listen to any favour about anyone and would fully support PHA.
CM directed to make WhatsApp group and progress should also be updated regarding the decisions being made in the group. CM was informed during the meeting that plants and grass were destroyed during the PTI rally in the Greater Iqbal Park and the park suffered approximately Rs. 50 lakhs loss due to holding of that rally. Kh. Ahmad Hassan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore Division, Col. (R) Mubashir Javed, Imran Goraya and DG PHA attended the meeting.
