CM Announces Increased Funding for Universities at NED Convocation

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, during the 33rd Convocation of NED University, commended the institution for its contributions to education and innovation in Pakistan.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, Shah congratulated the graduating students and acknowledged NED University’s commitment to broadening its academic offerings to align with contemporary global knowledge trends. Shah recognized the diverse array of disciplines offered at NED University and praised its graduates for their contributions on a global scale. He reflected on his pride in attending the institution’s centennial celebrations in 2021-2022 and underscored the impact of NED alumni on Pakistan’s professional landscape.

A key highlight of his address was the proposed NED University Science and Technology Park, an initiative supported by ENERTECH and the Sindh government, aimed at enhancing collaboration among students, faculty, and industry stakeholders to facilitate economic growth.

The CM highlighted the Sindh government’s increase in funding for higher education institutions, rising from Rs6 billion to over Rs33 billion, as evidence of the province’s commitment to academic advancement. He mentioned the Peoples IT Programme and a collaboration with Google to prepare students for the evolving information technology industry.

Addressing challenges posed by recent events, Shah underscored the province’s reconstruction initiatives following the 2022 floods and called on residents to contribute to recovery efforts, expressing confidence in NED graduates’ role in these endeavors.

He congratulated the graduates, expressing belief in their ability to navigate challenges and urged them to leverage their education for positive contributions to their families, alma mater, and the nation. The Chief Minister’s message conveyed themes of hope, resilience, and commitment to future success.
