Srinagar: A recent cloudburst in the Rajgarh tehsil of Ramban district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has resulted in the deaths of three individuals, with four others reported missing. This catastrophic event also triggered flash floods that inflicted significant property damage throughout the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials have confirmed the fatalities and reported that the search efforts are ongoing for the four missing persons. Among the deceased was a six-year-old girl, Shazia Banoo, whose body was discovered three kilometers downstream from her village. Prior to this, rescuers found the bodies of Yasir Ahmad and Khalid Ahmed Parihar. The ongoing search operations aim to locate Yasir’s mother and sister, as well as Khalid’s mother and sister, who are still unaccounted for. The floods not only claimed lives but also resulted in substantial damage to infrastructure, including government schools and private vehicles.
The incident affected the Panchayats of Kumate, Dhraman, and Halla in Rajgarh tehsil, with the Tanger and Dadi streams overflowing and causing additional destruction in the vicinity. The community has been mobilized to support the affected families and restore the damaged areas.
