Islamabad, June 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Under the auspices of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the closing ceremony of Weightlifting (Punjab) Talent Hunt Youth Sports League will be held today evening in University of the Punjab. In the competition, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs will be the Chief Guest while Dr. Shaista Sohail, Acting Chairperson, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan will be Guest of Honour. Dr. Saleem Mazhar, Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, University Registrar, Director Sports, and Faculty Members will also join the Ceremony.
Young Talented Players from five locations of Punjab Province including Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad are contesting in 10 different weight categories. Despite curtailed resources and challenges, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme in collaboration with HEC and Higher Education Institutions is providing opportunities to young players to participate in various games including weightlifting.
With a clear focus towards grass-root talent hunt and infrastructure building through establishment of sports academies and resource centers, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme reiterates youth will raise to soaring heights in the sports.
