Climate Finance Accelerator launched in Pakistan

Islamabad, July 29, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Climate Finance Accelerator was launched in Pakistan to support Islamabad’s efforts to deliver emissions reductions and raise its overall climate ambition. Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman was the chief guest on the occasion in Islamabad on Friday.

The UK-funded CFA programme is operational in seven other countries globally. CFA Pakistan is initially looking for around ten projects at the pre-feasibility stage that are seeking investment of at least four million dollars. Addressing the event, Sherry Rehman said Pakistan emits less than one percent of Green House Gases but still bears the repercussions of activities carried out by the biggest world polluters. She said Pakistan is now moving ahead with creating Pakistan’s first National Adaptation Plan.

British High Commission’s Development Director Annabel Gerry said the CFA will build partnerships between projects, the financial community, and policymakers to help low carbon projects looking for investment. She said the launch of CFA Pakistan underlines the UK’s firm commitment to supporting the effort to fight climate change in Pakistan.
