ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani highlighted the serious threats posed by climate change, emphasizing its impact on food security, water resources, agriculture, economic stability, and human survival. He made these remarks during his address at the Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference.
According to Radio Pakistan, Gilani stressed the close connection between climate security and global peace and stability. He noted that Pakistan is actively working to enhance resilience in critical sectors such as energy, agriculture, food, and water. Efforts are also being made to mobilize climate finance and strengthen global partnerships to address these challenges.
Senior Minister Punjab Maryam Aurangzeb also spoke at the conference, detailing the provincial government’s initiatives to promote environmental sustainability. She mentioned that Punjab is being divided into specific environmental zones, including no-plastic zones, to create a more sustainable environment.
