Bhopal, In a recent incident in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, a Christian missionary school in Betul district was attacked by a mob associated with the Hindutva ideology, led by members of the extremist organization Bajrang Dal.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack occurred when members of the mob, including a woman, forcefully entered the school during prayer time. A video capturing the incident has been circulating on social media platforms, sparking widespread concern. The attackers, identified as members of the Hindutva group, accused the Christian community in the school of conducting “forced religious conversions.”
This event is part of a concerning trend in India, where attacks on Christian schools and Churches by Hindutva groups have been increasingly reported. In a similar incident that took place in September 2023, the Saint Mary’s Convent School in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh experienced an intrusion by Hindutva extremists. The group stormed the school, alleging disrespect towards a Hindu god and causing disruption in the principal’s office.
In response to these allegations, Principal Sister Sarita Joseph of Saint Mary’s Convent School has firmly denied any wrongdoing. She emphasized the school’s commitment to respecting all religions equally and highlighted their dedication to providing unbiased education to all students.
These incidents highlight growing religious tensions and the challenges faced by minority communities in India, raising serious concerns about the safety and freedom of religious practices in the country.
