Christian Community Expresses Gratitude for Punjab Government to Return Missionary Schools to the Church

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine thanked to PM Imran Khan and CM Usman Buzdar on behalf of the entire Christian community for a remarkable decision by the Punjab government to handover Christian schools back to Church. He said that four missionary schools included Saint Francis Anarkali, Rang Mahal Lahore, Raja Bazar Pindi and Haji Pura Sialkot are being returned to the Church while soon other missionary educational institutions will also be handed over to the concerned administration.

He expressed these views in a ceremony which was organized by Presbyterian Church of Pakistan on the eve of ecumenical dinner to celebrate the decision of Punjab Government to return the Christian schools back to Church. Bishop Azad Marshall, delegation from the Presbyterian outreach foundation, the heads of Churches in Pakistan and the Heads of the institutions attended the dinner.

Moderator No Lakha Church Rev Dr Majeed Abel along with others acknowledged the decision of Government of the Punjab and thanked the Punjab Cabinet, especially the Chief Minister for the historic decision made by the Punjab government.

He said that the decision has conveyed a sense of happiness in the Christian community across Pakistan. Ejaz Alam Augustine in his address further said that the credit of return of missionary schools to Church goes to Government of PTI as they have made this historic decision after 50 years and will be written in golden words. In connection with the historic day of 23 March, special prayers were being offered for the security forces of Pakistan and for the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.
