Chinese Investment Delegation Eyes Significant Ventures in Balochistan


Islamabad: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan has engaged in discussions with a Chinese investment delegation, led by Zhang Yang, Chairman of Changjiang Industries (SMC-Private) Limited, and former Provincial Finance Minister Amjad Rashid, to explore substantial investment opportunities in Balochistan.



According to Senate of Pakistan, the meeting focused on potential investments by Chinese firms in various sectors across Balochistan, with plans for an initial investment of approximately USD 2.6 billion in the manufacturing sector and around USD 14 million in the minerals sector. These investments are anticipated to bolster industrial activity and create employment opportunities for the local population. The delegation expressed interest in expanding their investment portfolio to include industry, minerals, agriculture, transport, tourism, and other economic sectors over the next five years.



Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan welcomed the Chinese delegation’s interest, noting Balochistan’s rich natural resources and energy reserves. He emphasized the potential of globally recognized projects like Reko Diq and highlighted the significant opportunities in mining, agriculture, tourism, energy, and industry. He further stressed that initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could significantly contribute to regional economic development.



The meeting concluded with both parties discussing strategies to enhance investment prospects in Balochistan, effectively utilize mineral resources, and expand Pakistan-China economic cooperation. The Deputy Chairman Senate underscored the government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investment and encouraged investors to leverage available institutional support.
