Islamabad, October 04, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Nong Rong called on the Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Mohsin Dawar and exchanged views on deepening cooperation and strategic convergences. Mohsin Dawar stated that a vibrant Pak-China strategic partnership and cooperation was indispensable to the peaceful political future of the entire region.
Mohsin Dawar thanked the people and government of China for supporting Pakistan’s efforts to combat the devastating effects of recent floods and support to Pakistan in times of economic distress. Mr. Nong Rong congratulated Mohsin Dawar on becoming the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and exchanged views on the formation of the National Democratic Movement as a political party.
Mohsin Dawar stated the National Democratic Movement (NDM) strives to carve a political space and voice for the youth and women in a progressive Pakistan. He underlined the need for regular exchange between NDM and Chinese Communist Party.
Mohsin Dawar appreciated the central role of the Communist Party of China in China’s socio-economic development and political stability. He stressed that China’s remarkable development in recent years has presented the developing world with a roadmap to lift people out of poverty. He stated that China’s strategy to achieve broad-based economic growth without entangling in external disputes brought huge dividends of prosperity.
Mr. Nong Rong, referring to China’s assistance for flood relief operations, remarked that China would never forget its iron brother in times of distress and that China has emerged as one of the largest bilateral donors for Pakistan’s flood relief efforts.
He stated that China and Pakistan were best friends and iron brothers who supported each other in times of challenges. Mohsin Dawar stated that Pak-China technical, scientific, agricultural and industrial cooperation was crucial to Pakistan’s enduring quest for rapid industrialization, integration in the global value chains to boost exports and rive up inclusive economic growth.
Mohsin Dawar underlined the need to extend CPEC route to Ghulam Khan crossing and added that Ghulam Khan crossing, at the Pak-Afghan border point, is the shortest route connecting CPEC’s western route with Afghanistan, Central Asian States and beyond.
Commenting on the importance of extending the CPEC route to Ghulam Khan, he remarked that the corridor would generate massive opportunities for economic development of the people in the peripheries. He termed their economic development critical to Pak-China shared dream of inclusive regional economic growth.
It was outlined that conflicts, war on terror and interventions derailed the region’s political stability conducive to shared regional economic development. The peaceful political future of the entire region requires a vibrant Pak-China strategic partnership and cooperation, Mohsin added.
