Chinese Delegation Praises Pakistan’s Emergency Management Amid Monsoon Challenges


Islamabad: A delegation from the Chinese Embassy, led by Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yuanqiang, visited the National Emergencies Operations Center at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters in Islamabad. The visit focused on reviewing Pakistan’s response to the ongoing monsoon season and strengthening bilateral cooperation in disaster management.



The NDMA team provided a comprehensive overview of their relief and response activities in regions affected by the monsoon. Chairman of the NDMA, Lt General Inam Haider Malik, emphasized the coordinated efforts with provincial governments and disaster management authorities. These efforts included rescue and evacuation operations and timely assistance through the Prime Minister’s Relief Assistance program.



Representatives from various NDMA wings presented details on the capabilities of the National Emergencies Operation Center. They highlighted developments in disaster early warning systems, risk communication, anticipatory actions, and local simulation exercises. The engagement of relevant stakeholders for implementing global best practices was also discussed.



Mr. Shi praised the NDMA’s proactive measures in mitigating the impacts of the monsoon. He described these efforts as essential for protecting lives and livelihoods and enhancing Pakistan’s resilience to climate-related challenges.



Additionally, Mr. Shi expressed condolences for the lives lost during the floods and reaffirmed China’s commitment to cooperating with the Government of Pakistan in aiding flood-affected areas.
