Karachi: The Consul General of China, Ying Yundong, met with Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon at the Central Police Office in Karachi to discuss security measures and potential investment opportunities in the region. The meeting focused on the ongoing cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the specific security needs of Chinese residents and businessmen in Sindh.
According to Sindh Police, the Consul General invited IG Sindh to the upcoming Chinese National Day ceremony, highlighting the strong bilateral determination to enhance cooperation under CPEC. He expressed satisfaction with the security steps already taken by Sindh Police and welcomed the formation of a separate force dedicated to the security of Chinese nationals in the province, describing it as “very welcome and encouraging.”
IG Sindh reassured the Consul General of the continuing commitment to safety, noting that the province is safe for Chinese residents and that more officials will soon be deployed to the Special Protection Unit (SPU) to further this goal. “Confidence in our security arrangements strengthens our resolve,” said IG Memon, who also pledged to increase police personnel gradually to ensure a peaceful environment for the Chinese community in Sindh.
