Chinese Ambassador Reinforces Commitment to Pakistan’s Development During Pre-Visit Meeting with Minister Ahsan Iqbal


Islamabad: The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jiang Zaidong, met with Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, to discuss strategic initiatives ahead of Chinese Premier Mr. Li Qiang’s upcoming visit. This marks an important precursor to the Premier’s visit, which is poised to further cement the bilateral relations between the two nations, uninterrupted for over a decade.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions between Ambassador Jiang and Minister Iqbal were robust, focusing on the alignment of goals for the Chinese Premier’s visit. Both parties emphasized the historic nature of the impending visit and agreed to form a working group dedicated to enhancing the visit’s outcomes. Minister Iqbal commended China’s consistent support in key Pakistani sectors like infrastructure, energy, and industrialization, acknowledging the pivotal role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in the nation’s economic resurgence and regional connectivity.



The meeting also addressed Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and projects under CPEC. Ambassador Jiang lauded the recent improvements in Pakistan’s economy, including a significant rise in GDP and stabilization of foreign exchange reserves under the current administration. The dialogue underscored a mutual commitment to overcoming economic challenges and ensuring the successful implementation of crucial development projects, with both leaders expressing optimism about future cooperative ventures.
