China Criticizes India’s Increased Military Presence at Himalayan Border

Beijing, China has expressed concern over India’s decision to bolster its military presence at their contentious Himalayan border, stating that the move “is not conducive to easing tensions.” This remark was made by a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry during a press briefing on Friday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, recent reports in the Indian media have revealed that India has redirected a force of 10,000 soldiers from its western frontier to enhance its defense capabilities along the disputed border with China. This reallocation aims to fortify India’s position across a 532-kilometer stretch of its border with China in the regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, which are adjacent to the Himalayas.

Despite both nations previously agreeing to resolve their border disputes through military and diplomatic dialogue, with a recent meeting described as constructive towards addressing border issues in the western section of the China-India boundary, China remains critical of India’s actions.

Mao Ning, the Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson, reiterated China’s commitment to peace and stability in the border regions. Mao emphasized, “India’s increase in military deployments in border areas does not help to calm the situation in the border areas or to safeguard peace and safety in these areas.”

The development is the latest in the ongoing tension between the two countries over their border, highlighting the challenges in achieving a peaceful resolution to their longstanding disputes.
