Chief of Army Staff Unveils New HAIDER Tank in Collaboration with Chinese Firm


Taxila, In a significant development for Pakistan’s defence capabilities, the Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, unveiled the new HAIDER tank at Heavy Industries Taxila on Thursday. The tank, a product of collaboration between the Chinese state company NORINCO and various Pakistani industries, is heralded for its advanced technology and exceptional capabilities in firepower, protection, and manoeuvrability, marking a significant milestone in tank warfare technology.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the HAIDER tank has been indigenously manufactured, embodying the pinnacle of modern military technology and demonstrating the Pakistani defence industry’s commitment to innovation and self-reliance. The unveiling ceremony provided an opportunity for the Army Chief to be briefed in detail about the HAIDER tank’s technical capabilities, as well as the ongoing efforts towards achieving indigenization in arms and armament production.



The HAIDER tank is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, showcasing remarkable advancements in the field of defence manufacturing. This initiative not only represents a significant step forward in Pakistan’s defence production capabilities but also strengthens the military collaboration between Pakistan and China.



During his visit, General Munir also toured other manufacturing facilities within the Heavy Industries Taxila complex. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the officers and workforce in reaching this technological achievement.
