Karachi: At the graduation ceremony of the 35th Senior Management Course for Grade 19 officers held at the National Institute of Management, Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, underscored the critical role of public trust in sustaining democracy. He emphasized the necessity of delivering effective public services and governance to bolster citizen confidence in public institutions.
According to Sindh Governor House, the Chief Minister addressed a gathering that included Dr. Lubna Ayub, the Director-General of the National Institute of Management (NIM), and other distinguished faculty and participants. He congratulated the 38 officers, including two women, who completed the intensive 16-week course, which aims to prepare senior civil servants to effectively manage policy and service delivery challenges. Shah remarked on public service as a voluntary commitment that goes beyond a mere profession, involving a tireless dedication to the community through innovative policy-making and execution.
The Chief Minister highlighted the diverse backgrounds of the officers from various cadres of the federal and provincial governments and reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with NIM Karachi. He praised the mandatory promotion courses that provide officers a platform to enhance their skills and knowledge necessary for addressing complex policy issues.
Shah also reflected on the broader challenges facing the public sector, including climate change, economic instability, and geopolitical uncertainties. He stressed the importance of adapting to an era marked by rapid technological advancements such as artificial intelligence and social media, which have raised public expectations for transparency and accountability in governance.
In his speech, Shah outlined his government’s efforts in providing public services and relief through investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social security. He expressed his government’s ongoing commitment to launching new development projects to stimulate economic activity across Sindh.
