Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Drug Free Punjab Campaign Makes Significant Progress


Lahore, Under the leadership of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police have made substantial strides in Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s campaign for a Drug-Free Punjab. This initiative has seen intensified police action across the province, targeting the narcotics trade.



According to Punjab Police, in the last 24 hours alone, police teams have conducted 369 raids on drug hideouts, registering 178 cases and arresting 182 individuals involved in drug trafficking. Significant quantities of narcotics were seized, including 81 kg of charas and 1762 liters of liquor. Since the campaign’s inception on February 26, over 22,364 raids have been executed, resulting in the arrest of 10,949 suspects and the recovery of large amounts of drugs including heroin, opium, and Ice.



IG Punjab has ordered an escalation in the crackdown, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-based operations near educational institutions and the utilization of modern technology and human intelligence to dismantle major drug networks. Dr. Anwar also stressed the need for ongoing public awareness efforts in collaboration with parents, teachers, and civil society.
