Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Leads Flood Relief Efforts in Rajanpur

Rajanpur: Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, visited the flood-stricken region of Hajipur in Rajanpur District to oversee relief operations and ensure the welfare of the affected families. During her visit, she conducted aerial and ground inspections of the impacted areas and engaged directly with residents and relief workers.

According to Punjab Portal announcement issued on 20 August 2024, Chief Minister Sharif’s visit included a stop at a relief camp in Hajipur Government Higher Secondary School, where she evaluated the accommodations and medical facilities provided to flood victims. She interacted closely with affected families, assessing their needs and the effectiveness of the relief measures in place.

The Chief Minister directed immediate medical attention for a sick woman at the camp and distributed gifts among children, reinforcing her commitment to the community’s recovery. Highlighting her personal involvement, Sharif assured ongoing support and stringent oversight of the rehabilitation efforts, emphasizing the importance of preparedness against potential epidemics and further disasters.

Additionally, Sharif reviewed proposals for long-term flood prevention, including the construction of a dam to manage water from the Kaha River, aiming to safeguard Rajanpur District against future flooding. The visit was supported by senior government officials and local ministers, underscoring a coordinated approach to disaster management and recovery.
