Lahore, In an unprecedented move aimed at fostering familial connections during the festive season, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has facilitated Eid celebrations for prisoners by allowing them special privileges to meet and communicate with their families.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the inmates in Lahore were granted permission for extended family visits during Eid. This initiative enabled prisoners to celebrate the festival with their loved ones, partake in the exchange of sweets, and enjoy food brought by their families. Additionally, the policy allowed for inmates to make phone calls to their families on the day of Eid and the following day, ensuring that those incarcerated could share in the joy and spirit of the occasion alongside their families.

This compassionate gesture underscores the Chief Minister’s commitment to humanizing aspects of the penal system and recognizing the importance of family bonds, even within the confines of incarceration. The decision was widely appreciated by the families of the prisoners, marking a significant and heartwarming deviation from standard prison protocols during the Eid festivities.
