Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Celebrates International Women’s Day with Punjab Women’s Development Department


Lahore, In a significant nod to International Women’s Day, Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif marked the occasion by attending a special event organized by the Punjab Women’s Development Department. The ceremony, held at a local hotel, was part of a broader initiative to honor the contributions and resilience of women across various sectors in Punjab.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister’s participation underscored her commitment to women’s empowerment and development in the province. Upon arrival, she was greeted by three lady wardens, Saba, Asma, and Arusa, who performed pilot duties in celebration of Women’s Day. The Chief Minister expressed her gratitude towards them and commemorated the moment with a photograph, highlighting the significant role women play in maintaining law and order.



During her visit, Chief Minister Sharif closely inspected various stalls set up by the Food Authority, Sanat Zar, Qasra Bahbud, PITB, and the Bank of Punjab. She took a keen interest in the displayed items, particularly focusing on women’s nutrition and other relevant issues showcased by the Punjab Food Authority. Notably, she purchased a hand-embroidered suit, showcasing her support for local artisans and their craftsmanship.



The Bank of Punjab stall introduced the Chief Minister to the Scooty Scheme, aimed at promoting mobility and independence among women. The bank facilitated the giveaway of three scooties to women-only account holders through a draw, emphasizing the government’s efforts to enhance women’s accessibility and empowerment.



Moreover, the Chief Minister engaged with students at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation stall, who demonstrated their skills in sewing, embroidery, and painting. This interaction highlighted the government’s dedication to providing vocational training and development opportunities for women, enabling them to achieve economic independence and contribute meaningfully to society.



Before concluding her visit, Chief Minister Sharif signed the Women’s Development Department banner and penned a message, stating, “I am proud of the women who are making a name for themselves in every field.” This gesture reflected her acknowledgment of the strides women have made and her vision for their continued progress in Punjab.



The event was attended by various officials, underlining the collective commitment of the Punjab government to support and celebrate the achievements of women across the province.
