Lahore: “Salute to special heroes of the nation, you are our pride,” said Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. She emphasized the importance of providing equal rights and opportunities to individuals with disabilities.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the government is committed to facilitating the lives of persons with disabilities through several initiatives.
Chief Minister Sharif announced the launch of the ‘Himmat Card,’ which will provide financial assistance of Rs 10,500 every quarter to eligible individuals. This card will also allow free travel for persons with disabilities on the Orange Line and Metrobuses in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The government is also distributing hearing aids, wheelchairs, and artificial limbs to those in need.
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted plans to establish Pakistan’s first public sector autism school in Lahore. She stated that centers with modern facilities are being set up to promote special education. Addressing the commitment of her administration, Chief Minister Sharif assured that her doors remain open for individuals with disabilities and pledged to foster a society where no one is left behind.
