Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Promotes Minority Rights and Cross-Border Environmental Collaboration

Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has pledged to enhance minority rights in Punjab while advocating for international cooperation to combat environmental challenges. During a Diwali celebration, she announced plans to write a letter to the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab, proposing joint efforts to tackle the region’s smog issue. Additionally, she unveiled initiatives to support minority communities, including the issuance of special cards and the establishment of a virtual police station.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the announcement was made during a Diwali ceremony attended by female diplomats and minority community members. Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the importance of protecting minority rights, stating that any act of violence against these communities would be met with strong opposition. She emphasized the need for minorities to feel safe in Pakistan, asserting that all citizens are equal and should participate in the country’s development.

In a gesture of goodwill, Nawaz distributed financial aid to Hindu families and celebrated Diwali by engaging with the community. She reiterated her commitment to minority inclusion, urging the police to ensure their protection. Nawaz also addressed the environmental issue of smog, calling for collaboration with Indian Punjab to address the problem, which affects both sides of the border.

The event, which included traditional rituals and cultural performances, was attended by government officials, minority representatives, and international diplomats.
