Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Launches Punjab’s Largest School Nutrition Initiative

Dera Ghazi Khan: In a significant move to combat malnutrition, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the country’s largest primary school nutrition program at Government Primary School MC One in Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to Punjab Portal, the “Chief Minister Primary School Nutrition Program” is a pilot project that has been initiated in three districts of South Punjab, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Muzaffargarh. During her visit, Chief Minister Sharif engaged with the students, distributing milk packs and interacting with them to understand their educational and personal challenges. One notable interaction involved a student discussing his father’s unemployment, prompting the Chief Minister to order immediate action to assist the family.

The program aims to provide over 400,000 malnourished students with 175 ml milk packs daily. The initiative also includes an environmental component where the empty milk packs collected will be recycled, and the proceeds will be used to fund further school needs. This comprehensive approach seeks to enhance both the nutritional and educational well-being of students across the targeted districts.
