Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Honors National Hockey Team with Financial Support and Praise

Lahore, In a celebratory gesture, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif invited the national hockey team to the Chief Minister’s office, rewarding them with a check of Rs 30 million for their silver medal achievement at the Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament. The Chief Minister personally interacted with the team members, underscoring the importance of sports as a national pride.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, during the event, the Chief Minister pledged continuous support for hockey and promised the promotion of the sport at all levels in Punjab. The commitment comes after a 13-year hiatus in significant hockey successes, which the Chief Minister attributed to the negligence of previous administrations.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Sharif announced plans for the development of hockey, including the establishment of new academies and the involvement of international experts for training. The initiatives reflect a broader strategy to revive sports and improve facilities across Punjab, emphasizing the role of sports in enhancing national honor and community well-being.
