Chief Minister Discusses Environmental Protections and Investment Opportunities with Polish Delegation

Karachi, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of upgrading wastewater treatment to reduce Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) for better environmental protection and public health during a meeting with a Polish business delegation. The discussions also covered investment opportunities in renewable energy and infrastructure improvements in Sindh.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the meeting, held at CM House, included talks on potential collaborations in renewable energy, water management, air quality improvements, and smart city initiatives. The Polish delegation, led by officials from the Polish Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and accompanied by Polish Ambassador Mr. Maciej Pisarski, explored several areas for investment, particularly through public-private partnerships.

The discussions highlighted the challenges and strategies for managing wastewater, sludge, and dust emissions in the province. The Chief Minister pointed out that existing and new wastewater treatment facilities were crucial to meet environmental standards and support sustainable development. He invited the delegation to consider direct investments or partnerships in these projects.

The meeting concluded with plans to organize another session involving Energy, Environment, Industries, and Local Government departments to further discuss joint venture possibilities. The next steps include detailed planning and coordination by the acting chief secretary to facilitate these potential investments and partnerships.
