KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah extended his congratulations to the newly elected leaders of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) following their success in the recent annual elections.
Mr. Shah acknowledged Kazim Khan for his election as President, alongside Ayaz Khan, who assumed the role of Senior Vice President. He also congratulated Ghulam Nabi Chandio on becoming Secretary General and Tanveer Shaukat as Deputy Secretary. Additionally, Hameed Hussain Abidi was recognized for his position as Finance Secretary, with Zia Tanoli as Information Secretary.
The Chief Minister further extended his felicitations to Vice Presidents Qazi Asad Abid, Adnan Zafar, Mian Hassan Ahmed, and Munir Ahmed Baloch, as well as Joint Secretaries Tahir Farooq, Munazza Seham, Rafi Niazi, Arif Baloch, and Waqas Tariq Farooq.
Mr. Shah also congratulated members of the CPNE Standing Committee, including Dr. Jabbar Khattak, Maqsood Yousufi, and Sher Muhammad Khawer, among others. He emphasized their collective role in promoting press freedom.
Recognizing the significance of May 3 as World Press Freedom Day, the Chief Minister highlighted CPNE’s commitment to press freedom since its inception. He remarked that the democratic process of elections reflects a journey toward improvement and acknowledged CPNE’s contribution to defending this cause.
