Lahore: Expressing deep grief over the recent attack on police personnel, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has condemned the firing on police posts in Punjab. Chief Minister Sharif highlighted the injuries sustained by more than 20 police officers, including senior officials, and described the attacks as a breach of national unity.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the attacks resulted in injuries to several high-ranking officers such as SP, DSP, and SHO, in addition to other personnel. The attackers reportedly used weapons commonly associated with law enforcement, including guns and tear gas. Despite these threats, the Punjab police remain unarmed in an effort to avoid further clashes. In a previous protest, a constable was killed and more than 25 others were injured. The Chief Minister criticized the use of government resources in such protests, characterizing the movement as an attempt at armed terrorism rather than a legitimate protest.
