Quetta: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, a pivotal review meeting was held to discuss the expansion projects of the Quetta Development Package and the operational strategies of the Quetta Development Authority (QDA). The meeting highlighted the urgency of pushing for financial self-reliance among governmental bodies and the immediate action against land encroachment.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the session was attended by high-ranking officials including Secretary of Development and Planning Hafiz Abdul Basit, Secretary of Finance Babar Khan, and other key figures involved in the city’s development initiatives. Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the need for these bodies to generate their own operational funds and reduce dependence on governmental assistance.
The meeting also addressed the challenges of activating government zones and moving towards the establishment of private economic zones, which are seen as crucial for the region’s economic advancement. Chief Minister Bugti expressed dissatisfaction with the current pace of government zone activation, urging a shift towards more proactive and self-sufficient management practices within the QDA.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister ordered immediate actions to reclaim land from the mafia and expedite the fight against encroachers, stressing that such measures should not be hindered by bureaucratic delays. He also assured that there would be no hold-ups in the release of funds for crucial projects like the improvement of the airport road, underscoring his commitment to the timely advancement of the Quetta Development Package’s ongoing projects.
This meeting marks a significant step in Balochistan’s efforts to enhance its urban infrastructure and governance, aiming for a more streamlined and autonomous approach to urban development in Quetta.
