Chief Justice Afridi Leads Supreme Judicial Council Meeting on Judicial Conduct and Procedures


Islamabad: The Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan convened today under the leadership of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to address amendments to the Code of Conduct for Judges and discuss procedural rules. The meeting, held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan in Islamabad, focused on enhancing judicial accountability and transparency.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting included key figures such as Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan of the Federal Constitutional Court, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Aalia Neelum. Justice S.M. Attique Shah participated as a substitute member. The Council examined a proposed draft of rules regulating procedures, deferring the matter for further discussion.



The Council also addressed issues related to its members, holding meetings with different compositions as per constitutional guidelines. A reconstituted Council meeting featured Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha A. Malik, Justice Aamer Farooq, and Justice Ali Baqar Najafi as substitute members. The meeting reviewed ten matters under Article 209 of Pakistan’s Constitution, concluding the agenda items.
