Chaman Ramps Up Congo Virus Prevention Efforts Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

Chaman, In anticipation of Eid-ul-Adha, Chaman city has launched a rigorous campaign to prevent the spread of the Congo virus, focusing on cattle markets and farms across the area. This initiative, guided by the specific directives of Deputy Commissioner Captain R. Raja Athar Abbas, aims to safeguard public health during the significant uptick in livestock transactions associated with the upcoming holiday.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the preventive measures include extensive spraying and awareness campaigns in various cattle markets and farms. These efforts are overseen by District Livestock Officer Dr. Syed Muhammad Qasim Agha and Assistant District Livestock Officer Dr. Muhammad Tahir Achakzai. They are supported by Muhammad Farooq Tareen, Director of Extension Services and Breed Improvement, along with Dr. Faqir Muhammad and Dr. Muhammad Anwar Harifal, Senior Directors of Animal Health.

The preventive spraying campaign is part of a broader strategy to control the spread of the Congo virus, which can be transmitted to humans through ticks found on livestock or by contact with the blood of infected animals. With the high volume of animal sales and slaughter expected during Eid-ul-Adha, such proactive measures are crucial to prevent any potential health crisis.

The campaign also includes educational efforts to inform livestock handlers and the general public about the risks of the Congo virus and the necessary precautions to avoid transmission. These educational initiatives are essential in empowering individuals with the knowledge to protect themselves effectively.

This comprehensive response reflects the commitment of Chaman’s local government and health officials to maintain public safety and prevent the spread of infectious diseases in the region.
